Available Training Options
Full Certificate Program
Increase your value as a professional advisor by participating in our unique and well-rounded National Social Security Advisor (NSSA®) Certificate Program. Learn the nuances of Social Security and keep your knowledge up to date so you can readily answer your clients’ questions about deciding when to claim SS benefits.
The core educational offering of the Certificate Program is a full-day (7.5 hour) course offered in three formats:
Live Classroom Training
Face-to-face workshop with an NSSA® instructor, offered multiple times per year across the country.
Virtual Classroom Training
Web-based instructor-led workshop – log in from anywhere to participate in a live, 1-day program with an NSSA®instructor.
On-demand Training
19-module video-based course with NSSA® instructors – complete the workshop lectures and activities on your own time.
After completing the core educational offering, take and pass the final exam to earn your NSSA® Certificate. Your education does not stop there, however. Certificate holders receive ongoing support and resources, and can elect to renew their Certificate every 2 years by completing 8 hours in continuing education credits. We offer webinars every month to help you maintain your Certificate and keep your social security knowledge current.

Meet Our Team
Marc Kiner | Founder
Marc Kiner has 35 years experience in public accounting. His primary areas of service were to privately held businesses and individuals. Recognizing a need in the marketplace for enhanced advisor knowledge for Social Security filings, Marc sold his practice in 2012 to concentrate on Social Security. Marc is co-founder of the National Social Security Advisors certificate program.
Jim Blair | Founder
Jim Blair is the lead consultant in our Social Security consulting department, with over 35 years experience in helping individuals manage their Social Security benefits. Jim retired after 35 years with the Social Security Administration and is co-founder of the National Social Security Advisors certificate program.
Brian Schmidt | CPA
Brian Schmidt has 22 years of public and private accounting. Primary areas of service are to individuals and business and includes complex tax planning along with mergers and acquisitions. Brian purchased his CPA practice in 2012 and belongs to the American Institute of CPAs, Ohio Society of CPAs and Knights of Columbus. Brian completed the NSSA® Certificate Program and maintains the Certificate.
